Gear Editor Chris Townsend reviewed the updated Montane Minimus Waterproof Jacket as part of a comparative waterproof jacket review in TGO's May 2019 issue. Suitably impressed, the Minimus was awarded a coveted 'TGO Recommended' rosette, citing a comprehensive feature set and excellent value for money.
The updated materials and improved features of this modern classic were applauded for creating a comfortable and useable waterproof jacket that more than stood up against a field of far more expensive competitor jackets. Obvious changes such as the improved Pertex Sheild fabric with dry-touch backer was commended for creating a comfortable and breathable jacket that felt 'pleasant against the skin'. Other, more subtle features such as the chest-pockets' mesh inner lining that can be used as a vent, give the jacket an intuitive simplicity.
"The minimus is good value for money as it performs as well as some more expensive jackets."

It is this combination of subtle and obvious, active and passive features which create an inherently useable and dependable waterproof jacket, which allows it to outperform other more expensive options.
