About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials and Product Admin Assistant to join our Design Team. At Montane we push boundaries in performance, building timeless and versatile product that enables people to achieve their goals in the outdoors. The Materials and Product Admin Assistant will support our Design Team to develop the most innovative outdoor performance products by providing high quality administration support to our Materials and Product functions. They will input and maintain our materials data across various systems and ensure all necessary information about or materials and products are provided to our retail partners in a timely, accurate and compliant manner. The Materials and Product Admin Assistant will ideally have an understanding of textiles and current industry sustainability requirements, and will have a passion for materials and product design and development, they will be highly organised, have excellent attention to detail and be able to multitask and work at pace.

Key Responsibilities

The Materials and Product Admin Assistant will be responsible for:

  •  The administration of all information relating to the smooth operation of materials (fabric and trim) related activity, and supporting the Product Team when requested with data inputting and maintenance as well as working closely with the Operations & CSR Teams.
  • Entering and maintaining accurate data across various systems and spreadsheets.
  • Entering and maintaining materials data in the Product Line Management System (Centric).
  • Ensuring any new data entered into the PLM system and other product management systems is accurate and consistent in its format and removing any old data when requested.
  • Management and maintenance of data records relating to CSR certification and 3rd party certification such as Bluesign, GRS scope certificates, RWS.
  • Providing necessary materials and product information and documentation to our retailers to meet their individual compliance requirements.
  • Sourcing necessary materials and product information from various sources both internally and externally and checking accuracy ahead of inputting into relevant systems.
  • Liaising with Montane’s supplier portfolio to obtain up-to-date materials records/data sheets, certifications and test reports.
  • Maintaining the product line SDEX (Sustainability Data Exchange) information for retailers on a seasonal basis.
  • Dealing with, preparing and presenting information and reports for any materials and product queries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinating and generating Montane’s More Responsible Choice/Know What You Are Buying information for product tables.
  • Reviewing data for deficiencies or errors and make necessary corrections.
  • Assisting the Materials Manager with organisation and maintenance of the Materials filing system and archive.
  • Assisting in requesting 3rd party materials testing to predefined performance and compliance criteria.
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining a comprehensive materials scouring policy.
  • Assisting with materials and product research when requested.
  • Scan documents and print files, when needed.
  • Following the materials and product critical path and ensuring that all relevant admin deadlines are met.
  • Seeking and suggesting continuous improvement of processes and activities related to materials and product admin.

Key Requirements:

The successful candidate will:

  • Ideally have a degree or equivalent qualification in Textiles or Fashion Design, ideally with work placement experience in a commercial, design led retailer.
  • Ideally have an understanding of textiles and current industry sustainability requirements and a knowledge of materials legislation and technical standards.
  • Ideally have an understanding of yarn and fabric specifications, testing, sustainable raw materials.
  • Have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Packages including Excel.
  • Ideally have a knowledge of PLM systems (this is a clear advantage yet not essential).
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be personable and able build strong relationships and collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Be able to work collaboratively, talk openly and actively listen.
  • Be conscientious and accurate, with an excellent level of attention to detail.
  • Have the ability to get things done with a proactive, solution focused approach and a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Have the ability to work well under pressure and deliver to deadlines with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Have a keen interest in the outdoors.

Location: Northumberland.

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.

Contract: Permanent, Part-Time (22.5 hours a week)
